Recently I've been playing harp with one guitar player. We've focused
alot on Sonny and Brownie. We'd really appreciate it if someone could
put us onto some other acoustic guitar/harp duos. Thanks, Dan & Dick in
Massachusetts

I Emailed Dick privately, but I'll post it here too. Check out Cephas
and Wiggins' CD "Cool Down" on Alligator Records (ALCD 4838). Excellent
Piedmont style acoustic blues and harp duets.

Guitar/harp duet Madcat and Kane ( I think they are based out of Ann
Arbor, but you can find their recording online at cdnow... I think the
URL is http://www.cdnow.com but not positive on that one)...wild
blues...heard them at a festival in Pennsylvania a few years ago (sorry
no dates, I think I had too much of a good time that year)...totally
amazing harp, and excellent guitar/slide guitar. You can also check us
out at our homepage http://home.earthlink.net/~hsfigueroa for some
guitar/harp blues. cheers!

You also might try records by Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan (Flying Fish),
Buddy Guy and Jr. Wells - Alone and Acoustic, and both of the Sonny Boy
Williamson I Bluebird CD's primarily feature harp and guitar. Also Paul
Rishell and Little Annie Raines (Tone-Cool).

I must say it's cool to find another blues duo in Massachusetts! My
friend and I play a bit, often two guitars, but we do break it up with
harmonica.

Anyway -

I aslo recommend Cephas and Wiggins - *any* album of theirs is great.

If you poke around your local library, you might be surprised. I found a
recording of Leadbelly from 1949 (just before he died) that featured
Sonny Terry on a number of songs.

The Buddy Guy & Junior Wells acoustic album is also worth a check.

'It Must Have Been The Devil' - Jack Owen and Buddy Spires is an older
record (don't know if you can still find it) featuring some very deep
Delta blues.

Good luck!
