Anyone have any more info on this guy that I don't already know? Aside
from that book "King of the Delta Blues..." y'all know the rest, that
had crappy biased info (mostly on Patton's "cronies" and Son House's
"jealousy") I was wondering if anyone had any real information;
particularly about his parentage and family tree, it's for a
project...also...what are the lyrics to Charley Patton and Bertha Lee's
"Troubled About My Mother"? Any responses will be very much appreciated,
thanks.

In 1985ish a Charley Patton conference was held in Belgium at which a
multitude of worthies spoke, including David Evans and Dick Shurman, the
proceedings of which were published as follows:

Sacré, Robert (ed). The Voice Of The Delta: Charley Patton And The
Mississippi Blues Traditions, Influences, And Comparisons. Liege:
Presses Universitaires de Liege, 1987. 333 pp (2nd ed. Liege: Presses
Universitaires Liege, 1987. 347 pp)

I my opinion, Evans's chapter is by and far the best piece of objective
writing on Patton in many a long year.

Should anyone be interested I have attempted to compile a
bibliographical list of writings, including liner notes, about Patton
published since the early 60s which I'd gladly supply to those who email
me privately.
